ECO-SCHOOLS
Eco-Schools is a global programme, recognized by the UNDESA – UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005 – 2014) that empowers students to take an active role in promoting sustainability in their schools and communities.
The programme provides a framework for schools to integrate environmental education into their curriculum and operations, with the goal of creating a more sustainable future.
ECO-SCHOOLS IN BANGLADESH
RATIONAL
- Bangladesh is endowed with a young demography as children aged 0-17 years constitute 36% of total population.
- In Bangladesh, the national operator, Probha Aurora, has initiated the Eco-Schools programme in August 2023. This initiative is expected to build a whole school approach framework for schools to integrate environmental education into their curriculum and operations, with the goal of creating a more sustainable future.

- Target Institutions : Primary and Secondary Schools & Colleges
- Geographical Scope : Dhaka Region
- Number of Target Institutions: 25 Schools
The pilot phase will transition into a future strategy, encompassing all schools across Bangladesh in our Eco-schools programme.
